Last week we discussed if marketing is necessary for financial advisors. The answer was simple, but what about having a website? Will that have any influence on your business. Why do websites even exist? A website is used to identify targets that require your services, speak to their needs and give them a clear call to action (Webilium). Even though some financial advisors do not like establishing themselves online, having a positive web presence has become more and more prominent throughout the decades. There are two options when developing a website. You can either do it yourself or hire a company. We know that websites might not be the easiest to do, unless you majored in coding, or have extra time to update them every once in a while. On the other hand, hiring a company can take a huge chunk out of your budget. Whatever route you decide to take, all we know is it is important for financial advisors to have a website and here is why.

Quality clients expect quality service

This one is a no-brainer. If you conduct any research, whether it is to find a hardware store in an unfamiliar town or a simple search on symptoms you are experiencing, you turn to your handy research device, Google. Higher profile clients might come about your business's name through connections or even colleagues, family and friends. Although their initial interaction might not be with your website, they will resort to your website to find simple information such as your location, contact details and it might even assist them to make a concrete decision. In other words, being off the web makes you invisible to a large portion of your prospects.

It’s the simple tool of marketing

Someone once said that having a website is like having an office. The impression that you want your clients to have your office is that it is professional, orderly and inviting. Above everything else, it shows that you care a great deal about your clients to put in that effort. The website works similarly, only it's digitally based. If a prospect is Googling you right now, wouldn’t you want them to find beautiful and informative content rather than nothing at all?

Comparisons to your competitors

As we mentioned before, when clients are deciding which business will best meet their needs, they compare various businesses until eventually, they narrow it down. Call it a process of elimination if you will. Not having a website presence is like being disqualified before the match. You didn’t even have a chance to prove yourself. We believe that the more information you have about your business the better. However, even having a basic website for starters would still put you in the race.

Contact and connect

You obviously want your clients to find your email address, contact information and have an indication of how soon you will get back to them. Having a website is so much more than that. Have you ever wondered why websites have subscription sections? Maybe a client is not quite ready for your services yet. In the future, you send them an email campaign on a product that they release they require. Bada boom, you have your prospect. Plus, sending out emails doesn’t cost you and email applications allow you to send them in bulk nowadays.

In the past, having a web presence was associated with the corporate world.  Nowadays, it’s cheaper, more easily accessible and almost necessary to have a website. It’s a reflection of you, your business and what you stand for. Why would you not have something that eases your prospects' ability to find you?
